to the home site for the Sammamish Orienteering and Rogaining Club

 

 

The club sponsors orienteering meets on a series of maps generally on the east side of King County and also holds special meets such as horseback orienteering.

Approximately every two years the club has held a Rogaine, typically in the central Cascade area.  Rogaine originally planned for this September in the Mt St Helens - Mt Adams area has had to be postponed because of permission problems, but we are still hoping for 2011

On the Right is a short list of upcoming Sammamish events.  A complete listing of local orienteering events, including directions and contacts for the Sammamish events can be found under the Event Calendar listing at the left

 

  

 

The Wednesday evening meets for this summer are over with the last meet at Luther Burbank Park on  Wednesday, August 4.

Lake Sammamish State Park, Issaquah

Saturday, September 25, Starts 9:30am - Noon

 

 

The next Sammamish meet will be a regular weekend meet at Sammamish State Park on Saturday, September 25.  This will also be Sammamish's National Orienteering Day Meet, and there will be special beginner instruction, and a special beginner course in addition to the normal Course 1.

 

Sammamish State Park is located just north of I90 at Issaquah  To reach the Park, take I90 east from Seattle or Bellevue,  Take the first Issaquah exit, turn left, First left again after crossing I90.  Starts will be at the small shelter just west of the main parking area at the south end of the Park. First starts will be at 9:30 am; Last starts will be at noon.

 

All controls should be in place by 8:30 a.m.  So there will be a possibility for some early starts between 8:30 and 9:30.  All early starts MUST be scheduled in advance.  Please send an email to brucemcal@msn.com, giving the name (or names) of pre-runners and requested start times.

 

There will be four courses:  1: Beginner (about 1k). 2: Intermediate (about 2.5 k), 3: Advanced (about 4 k), and the Special Beginner Course.  

 

The usual refreshmenrs wll be available (hot dogs, potato salad, cookies and soda - included in meet Fee) during the meet.  If you want to add to the refreshments, you are welcome.
